Space science
Space is the relatively empty parts of the universe, outside the atmospheres
of planets. It is sometimes called "outer space" to distinguish it from
airspace and terrestrial locations. It may be considered to start at a
height of ca. 100 km.
Space science, or the space sciences, includes several major fields, such as:
* Astronomy and Astrophysics
* Exobiology
* Microgravity environment
* Plasma physics
* Space transport
o Rocket propulsion
o Rocket launch technology
o Interplanetary travel
o Interstellar travel
o Spacecraft propulsion
* Space exploration
o Unmanned space missions
o Manned space missions
* Space colonization
In addition, space sciences impact or are related to many other fields, from
the biology of organisms in space environments to the geology of other
bodies and planets, as well as nuclear physics in interstellar space and
inside stars.
